As is. Sometimes I'm guilty of over-thinking a piece and end up over-doing the piece. I think you've hit the mark on this as it sits!
...when you look at every tree and stick of firewood and see nothing but boards and bowls.
I hope someone can post a success on this. I've been wanting to turn one myself. I think some of the really, really old ones can be a hard rubber material on the outside too.
That's really nice right there! Love the turning and carved duck combo!
Never had issues with cherry. But you're definitely right about the allergies outside - it's hitting me pretty hard right now.
Hate when that happens! Beautiful piece of wood though. Is there any way to turn that bottom off and glue another contrasting piece onto it and re-turning? Make it sort of look like it was made to...
Nicely done there! I like the burning and looks like you did a fine job with it. What did you put on the inside, looks like black lacquer? And, pardon my ignorance, but what is citrus? I'm...
Jim, that's nice plate. What's the size of this, and how high? Like the worm holes too!
I like that Roger. Very nice, clean looking. Bradford makes for nice turning. I'm thinking you'll have their little wheels turning!
That is one outstanding piece right there! Thanks for sharing the photos cause I'm not sure I coulda believed it if you'd just told us about it. And congrats on the cover! Definitely deserved!
WOW! Man, oh man, what a piece!
Hey Eric, Is this what you're talking about? If so, let us know what you think of it.

He won't do any physical harm, no worries there. But keep him around. Every February, you'll have your own personal winter weather forecaster. But then again, it could become a turning project. ...
I'm going with ash to start, but can you post a photo of the bark?
So this is your first 'keeper!' Ain't nuttin' wrong with that...ya just gotta go back and put the finish date on the bottom. Don't give it away, ya gotta hang onto that first one. Heck, maybe even...
Sounds like a great trip to plan for the off-season, if there is one down that way. Been a couple times many years ago, it was crowded then too. Would be nice though to see all that other work in...
Looks great...I think you're gonna be just fine!
Getting into the carving thing now? Trying it out on a few turnings? Oh, my. I see another vortex taking shape here, only reason I can say that is been there still doing that! Well, love carving,...
WOW! Really incredible stuff there! You learn well, my friend!
Interesting topic. I use my dremel and the 1/32" tip, but only when it's a good, hard, tight grain wood, and only when the bottom provides enough space to write in. Where the space is smaller, or...
That's a neat looking piece Roger! Well done!
Congratulations Roger! Very, very cool!
A few years ago I took down a large cherry, nearly 3 feet across the base. Massive limbs. I was excited as I hauled this tree - a full trailer and full pick-up load of it, even posted a picture...
I've sprayed lacquer over acrylics quite a lot...no issues and looks good. Not sure that your markers would write/draw/stick over WOP. On a raw wood shallow bowl with a wide rim, I sealed it with...
