My cable has never gone out. The power goes out frequently. That does seem kinda odd, since they are on the same poles. Maybe cable has better redundancy.
I am mainly interested in having it work as an alarm clock, but my router is on a UPS and a automatic generator, so I should only be without internet for a few minutes.
Do you have plans for that? I've got two big lithium batteries I only use in the summer.
I have an Amazon Show on a 425wh UPS. I figure that will keep it working as an alarm clock
It draws 3w, so I figured it would last 4 days. It actually lasted 4 hours.
Am I misunderstanding...
Cutting slots means to cut the box so the steel opening is not a complete circle. That prevents the induction loop. Beats me what an insulating wall is.
No, there are two switches in box A. The one going to light 1 has 4 black wires to it. Two come from the same wire nut and are hot. The third goes to Switch 2, and I don't know where the forth...
Yeah, the 5 black wires are hot.
I looked it up in my 22 year old book on electrical residential wiring.
NEC 300.3(B) forbids #3 because of induction heating. BUT it makes an exception for...
I am pulling out a 3way switch and replacing it with a smart switch. The second 3way switch will be dead. Since the load is in the second box, I am using one of the travelers to connect the switch...
I looked in the attic again, and the vent pipe definitely come up from the wall in question. While it's exact location is hard to determine, it has to be within a foot of where we think it is; so I...
Interior wall, built in 2006.
There is an attic hatch about 10' from the "thing". I am too old and fat to actually go up there, but could see a PVC vent pipe coming out in the approximate area. ...
I went to hang a picture today in my second floor bedroom. The stud detector showed a really wide stud, but I was skeptical because of the width. I found normal looking studs on either side, 16"...
I used my jig for the very first time to make two serving trays with 3/8" box joints. On all 8 joints, the pins are 1/16" off the tails. Why? It is consistent, so I don't think I am doing anything...
I didn't listen. I should have sprung for the spiral bit.
But... had I followed my original plan, I would have made out better than I did.
I have a 5/16" bit, so I used that instead of the 1/4"...
I thought that was for corian, but okay, I actually have one.
I am making them to donate to a charity auction. I might not ever use the bit again. It is tough to spend $40 just to make stuff to give away, when I can use what I have.
I have a leigh RTJ400 and will use it to cut 3/8" box joints. They provide a straight bit but recommend using a spiral bit. I don't have a 3/8" spiral bit, but I do have a 1/4" spiral bit. Would...
Okay, I will be more specific. A piece I had a lot of work into today had a small split. If I tried to pull apart more to get some wood glue in with pipe cleaner it would likely split more. I...
I use Captain Tolle's sealant....
Yes, I believe it is conveyor belt material. Those who say I must buy from the factory part assume that they use better material than I can buy myself. That is certainly possible, but I doubt it.

Just rubber. There is a capacity of 200 pounds and they must figure the rubber is plenty strong for that.
Being a "woodworker", I was going to put a wood block above the strap taking up most of the room. If the strap breaks it can't go very far.
The ones I am looking at have a working limit of 500 pounds and a breaking limit of 1500 pounds. I plan on using two of them to support 300 pounds.
My understanding is that working limit is what...
Someone had a trailer with a "free" sign on it, so I took it home even though I have no use for it.
It is an earlier model of this....
I took some mechanical engineering 50 years ago and I remember it as the square of the thickness. Maybe I am getting senile, but after a great deal of thought...
The strength is proportionate to...
