Why not just bite the bullet and connect the laser to your Ethernet network with a self asigned IP address. That way any machine in the same subnet will be able to reach it. Wireless laptops will as...
I always use Ethernet and the print driver is configured for a static address.
I don't have your exact setup but I do use a epilog legend 32 on win7 32bit running in a parallels virtual machine on my old 17" MacBook Pro.
I've used both artcam pro and vectric aspire. Aspire wins hands down.
Hi,
I have a legend 32 which is an like early 32ex design. Could you please send me the updated alignment documentation?
Thanks,
Chris

It is easy. Takes 5 min.
Cut the skinny wire from the tube and wire the two new ends to the two screws on the meter.
End of story.
Yes you can! There is no real benefit other than cost for the tube. Most DSP's for Chinese engravers have settings for RF lasers.
80w tube 3 day shipping from China to NY
I got a message from EFR this morning on the cost + shipping. They say it comes to $626 shipped, that is quite a bit less than the same power RECI we bought a few years ago. I've never done an...
Very cool! I don't see them posted on their website yet. I guess I'll have to give them an email and find out more.
Any new news or timeline? My trigger finger is getting itchy and we will have a large order coming up at the end of December that needs the new laser in our large machine.
That would be great! If that's the reality I would get one for my machine at home too.
Thanks for the heads up Dave! We don't need to purchase right away and this will be a multi year investment so we would definitely like the latest and greatest. I wish we could afford an 80w RF laser...
I folks,
In school we have a king Rabbit HX1290 that was donated to us. Since getting our hands on it, I've put in a LO x7 DSP and a relay for the air assist. So far, it has done well but I think...
Instead of acetone to remove the lens from the holder, try lacquer thinner, but only if the holder is metal. It could melt plastic holders.
Here is mine that I vectorized and cleaned up from a raster. This is a DXF and was made for CNC work.

I have a 708c (light object x7) in school and I can't do greyscale engraving. If I'm doing something wrong or missing something, please let me know!
I have an epilog Legend 32 that I run a 40w glass tube on. It works but you can tell this machine is made for RF tubes. I bought the laser for $1000 off Craig's list and knew beforehand that the...
Wouldn't beam thickness be just a simple offset vector? If so, aspire does that.
I used to use artcam but I have switched to vectric aspire. I teach middle schoolers how to use aspire to make simple CNC v-carved signs but I use the 2.5d tools to model and compose beautiful...
Here is some birch plywood that I have engraved. In school we do many plaques out of 1/2" birch ply. Our 80w lasers engrave and cut so we can do some nice custom shapes.
Try upgrading your current comp with a good ssd. You'll get a huge speed boost for a minimal cost. You can also upgrade your ram and windows to 64 bit without spending a fortune.
For that money you could find a nice used Techno LC4896. 4x8, servos, welded frame and ballscrews just about everything you could ask for. You can still get replacement parts through Armor CNC.

My local transfer station(dump) usually has a few good workstations that people are just throwing away. Last weekend I got myself a nice 20" iMac and a high end NAD integrated amplifier. You would be...
