I need to cut a couple of miter slots in my outfeed table. What is the best and most accurate way to do this?
Thanks.
Tony,
That's fine with me. We'll all just pretend it didn't happen ;)
Can anyone tell me the main differences between these saws? I can see a difference in color, obviously. And the 651 has a outfeed table. What else sets these two saws apart?
Thanks.
Thanks mods ;)
Paul,
Yes, my circ saw didn't have any problems with it. It went through the aluminum just as easy as the ply I was intending to cut.
Okay, thought I would share my stupidity with the world.
I was cutting down a piece of 1/2" ply. Had it sitting on top of my table saw. Was using my circ saw. Not paying close enough...
Thanks. Yes, some patio furniture....Adirondack chairs, footstools, a side table.

Okay, the "proof" has been added. :D See pics above.
Haha, I almost took pics. I said, "nah, they know what wood looks like". I should have known better ;) I'll snap a pic when I get home from work.
No sorry. It was from an individual. He had a bunch left over just sitting in his garage.
Picked up 110 bf of 4/4 Cypress for $90 this weekend. 3 boards are 10-12" wide, and 10 boards are 8" wide. All 12' in length. About 90 cents/bf.
Now the wife can get the patio furniture I...
I just got a Ridgid oscillating spindle/edge sander. What brand, and where is a good place to order new sleeves and belts? I've been happy with Mirka for my ROS, so I'll probably use them for...
Are you talking about using a circular saw or table saw? I have this Diablo blade on my circular saw and it works great for PT wood. ...
Congrats!
I'm sure this has been answered here before, but...
What are the main differences between this saw, and their top of the line model?
I don't really have much insight to add, except that I was in your same shoes. Went back and forth with the decision. I ended up with the 514x2. Bigger is always better, right? :D
Good luck.
Thanks for the replies. Yes, it is rough sawn. Yes, I will be using more traditional joinery as opposed to screws and bolts.
I'm going to build some patio furniture. Not sure what type of wood I'm going to use yet, but either white oak, cypress or cedar. No matter which type, it is all kiln dried from a quality supplier....
Shiraz,
Almost immediately after your post, I got a call from your engineer. Quite helpful indeed. He sent me a very detailed email along with pictures of how to make the adjustment. When I got...
Good advise for some. Strangely enough, my wife actually got a kick out of this thread. She also got a kick out of your comment :D
Irwin,
Great minds....you know the rest ;)
Everything lined up perfectly on the Promax. I couldn't recommend it enough. Great tool. Works great. Excellent quality. Can't go wrong. The only...
Shiraz,
That's great to hear! I get home from work about 5:30pm CT. If your engineer could call at that time, or later, it would be much appreciated.
I have an activity open, because the base...
I talked to Griz tech support a while ago. Apparently there is no adjustment for the guide post travel.
Andrew,
I just downloaded the manual and read through it. I don't see anything that refers to post-travel-path adjustment.
Glenn,
Thanks for the reply. Keep in mind I'm new at this....
I'm using the guide block assembly adjustment, and have it set correctly. But when I lower the the guide post, it tracks out of...
