You can use a MFT to ensure an exact 90 degree cut angle. However, I'd still want to use the Felder.

Having those gears strip out is very common and it's an easy DIY project to replace the internals. I agree that you should take the time to balance the door and replace the springs if they are old.
+1. This also works on serrated blades.
Get a recent "unofficial guidebook", it will greatly assist in planning your day. When we went to FL we followed the guide and I think our longest wait was ~10 minutes.
Here's my Sargent 422C (the other plane is a Craftsman 559B). The dark grey color of the castings are because I used Phosphate paint prep to remove the rust. I polished the bottoms of the soles...
The idea is that the image (without any caption) invokes a certain feeling or thought about the person or object (e.g. the "awkward Brian" Sawstop example... you look at the picture and see a kid who...
I have a Tormek. Like any sharpening system there is a learning curve. For tools that are readily jig-able to an exact angle (lathe tools, etc.) I think there is an advantage to using a wheel/jig...
Thanks Derek. In your picture you show a large (sash?) saw that is longer than the board is wide. In your experience is there a certain point where the saw is too short? I've used a Veritas...
I've been looking at plow planes and am wondering how they get a clean cut without any nicker blades? Won't these cause tearing along the edge of the cut? Especially the plow plane models that...
Derek, how does your saw method work when dadoing across wide boards (e.g. a 12" deep shelf). Assuming you didn't have a great dado plane what technique would you use?
People are browsing Craigslist and are making impulse buys. This means that they lose interest in a few minutes after sending the e-mail. If you miss that window then you miss the sale. No one is...
Just because the filter is HEPA rated that doesn't mean the vacuum is HEPA rated. The Shark is a good competitor against the Hoovers and other cheap vacuums. I've heard plenty of stories about...
We've been using a Miele canister vacuum (with HEPA) for 7 years and have no complaints. This is over a variety of carpet piles and hardwood floors with pets and kids in the house. I have bad dust...
The problem with cheapies is that in addition to breaking they also blow dust past the seals. +1 on the Sebo recommendation for an upright. Miele makes a great cannister vacuum but I'd pick Sebo if...

I would not purchase any laptop without a SSD or without a hard drive + SSD caching. It makes a huge performance difference. The harddrive + SSD caching will be cheaper but slower during boot.

Be sure to use grit with the epoxy; sawdust on a plain epoxied floor is very slippery.
Feedly on Google Chrome is great. I can organize all the news I want (+ WWing blogs, etc.) all on one page.
Yes, I use a spray bottle. I use the same bottle from Lowes...
Some of the LEDs I have exhibit transformer hum. But it sounds like you're hearing something different...
I'd recommend an Asus RT-AC68U if throughput and range of your router are a concern.
+1. Below minimum wage hourly wage is typical... if their tips fall short then the restaurant makes up the difference.
Are you pushing down on the sander? You should just let the weight of the sander do the work (it will give you a better finish too). I have a Bosch and a Festool and neither get hot... even with...
I've used Jasco prep & primer to remove the rust and stop further rust from forming. It converts the rust into iron phosphate and prevents further rust from forming. I spray it on and let it work...
Now may be the time to measure the runout of the grinder's shaft to ensure that nothing was bent.
