The furniture restorers I watch use Krud Kutter to wash the pieces first. Home Depot, Lowes sell it. I have used it to clean old machinery for restoration.

HDO I have used came in a couple of different "flavors". I believe it all had 9 laminations and paper faces. The plain paper is a sign making product. The other is meant to be concrete form...
I think Amazon has replacements. Try them.
I own the Kreg and it has done everything I needed. I didn't buy the whole system just the saw and tracks. I am also a worm drive guy so it just seem correct to me. I used the Festool at work without...

I can get it at Woodcraft, Ace hardware and the local lumber yard.

I really like his channel. He has built a lot of nice pieces from just scrap.
507053This is how I cut the crown for my mantel. I did the profiles first. I think it would work for your application. The blade stays at the same angle for all the cuts.
I have installed a lot of premade stairs and yours are a lot closer than most of them. I would just call it good and move forward. Good luck.
I have had my Makita 10" slider since 1993? It has been a great saw. I think maybe twice in the thirty years I have gone over it and tweaked the settings. Get a blade made for a slider and tighten...

I have the Kreg track saw. I took my Matchfit dovetail clamps and tried them. It only took two or three strokes with a round file to make them work in the Kreg track.
We used them at work for the cnc. Sometimes they would break if the wood was really hard but in general they work great. The added advantage is they won't spark in a sander into the dust collector.
When I was working we could get the 13 ply birch in a lot of sizes, up to 5'x12' but I believe they just called it "Russian birch".
