Nice storage solution. That plane is living in the lap of luxury.
Nice bench. On my bench I used a mixture of 1/3 tungoil, 1/3 varnish, 1/3 Mineral spirits. Flood it and then wipe it off. A couple coats and your good to go. JME
Fantastic job on the plane. I'd love to have one of these someday. Perhaps....
Another option would be a vintage Stanley #12 1/2. JMO.
I have one of the Buck bros. irons from the Home Depot in a homemade smoother I made. I'm mildly impressed with it. Flat to begin with and holds an edge well. What more could you ask for a few...
Oh my. That's beautiful. Thanks for the pics and ideas.
I recently purchased the Worksharp and have entered a whole new realm in sharpening. Wonderful set-up IMO. I'm sure the Veritas is an excellent system also, just have no experience with it. HTH
Wow, quite a buy. Good to great shape too. Congrats.
Too cool. Nice touch on the handles.
Probably the same guy in TN I get my wood from. Excellent wood and GREAT prices. Have fun.
Very nice work. Thanks for posting. :)
I called my local WC to ask for a sheet of Phenolic ply. The dude on the other end said, "Sorry, we're all out" so...... I drive down to the local store and show him what Phenolic Ply actually is...
Wow, looks painful.
I have a DW735 and have never had a problem planing down to 1/8". I've done it numerous times with many types of figured and non-figured wood. HTH.
Titebond makes a glue especially for molding/trim. High initial tack and works pretty well from my experience. I think this would be a good application.
BTW, haven't a bit of snipe since I put the infeed/outfeed tables on. Well worth the investment.
I vote maple. What did I win? J/K:D
I've had a 735 for several years and contrary to others experience I've had excellent blade life from mine. I use a lot of Jatoba and this is very hard wood. I'm only turned the knives over once...
Very nice sled. I've been looking for something this versatile. Mind telling me what size the knobs and bolts are your using on your hold downs and other hardware? TIA.
I really don't understand the "hate" some have for nice looking benches. Well, perhaps I do. My bench is fully functional AND nice looking. Why not? I take pride in everything I build and that...
Thanks for the compliment. I used the Jatoba because I probably got it cheaper than Borg Fir. It's very hard and very heavy. Also sits in the middle of the shop so it doesn't have a wall to...

Here's mine. 4" thick Jatoba top. One heavy bench.
Nice collection you got from Gramps. Grampas tools mean a lot to me as I'm sure they will you too. Everytime you pick one up Grampa will be right there with you. Sweet.
Congrats on your new clamps Fred. Probably saved some poor dude working in shipping from losing his job. I'd of kept em without a second thought. In fact they would now become my favorite clamps.
Ok, here's another thought. How many of you would finish both sides of a project made from plywood. I know I always do. I think the same thing applies to finishing with veneer. Paint just one...
