Very nice piece Bruce!
It looks like padauk to me. The Padauk blank I got from Woodcraft was sealed in wax like this one.
Tom I have had the same issue over the years with walnut oil from Mahoney and Doctor`s Woodshop. It seems after the oil gets old it would not dry. I even did a test with both oils this fall. I put...
Nice looking bowls Tom!
Beautiful bowl Brian. Nice form and interesting wood figure. What are the dimensions?
I like mulberry…turns and finishes nice.
Very nice to forms Steve. What finish did you use on these?
I guess I needed to hit it a little harder and then it popped out! It did come with a smaller live center as well and that point came out too with the knock out bar. The oneway clone has a smaller...
Thanks John… I have the Oneway clone style. I tried to knock it out but it doesn’t seem to want to move. I wonder if the design has changed.
I recently bought a Jet 1640 lathe. Does anyone know if the point is removable in the tail stock center cup so just the cup can be used?
Thanks,
Paul
John do you use those papers for wet sanding as well as dry sanding?
Thanks,
Paul
Looks good John
Doctor's Woodshop brand oils has one product combination of walnut oil and microcrystal wax. I like this product a lot. http://www.doctorswoodshop.com/Store

Try turningblanks.net they are in South Carolina. They have a good selection and are reasonable. I will order from them again.

I also have tall bladed Sorby, which way do you present it to the wood? With the cutting edge on top or bottom?
Thanks
Paul
Another great looking piece Leo...enjoy your descriptions on how you get the wood.
Nice looking bowls David, how do you do a 40/40 grind? Do you free hand it?
Thanks,
Paul
Very cool Thom!
Thanks for all the replies....may want this chuck down the road...Paul
I have been away for awhile so I don't know if anyone has posted about the new chuck and jaws from Nova. Wood Craft has it in their latest flyer. It looks nice... Paul :)

Carl Jacobson uses a brand of wax called Crystal Clear paste wax...I found it at Woodcraft. It works well when mixed with walnut or mineral oil.
