That's a sweet looking plane. :)
Where does your neighbor live. If near me I'll buy a few tools.
Are you asking if people still use carving tools, drawknives, spokeshaves,
smoothing planes, etc? Yes, people still use handtools. ...
The guy at the Steiner and Sauer site made a Titanium infill I think. Cool stuff, but he didn't like working it.
That's a sweet bench. Congrats!
That's quite a collection.
thanks for the review Dominec. Chris Schwartz made the same comment about it tending to clog.(that was his only complaint)
Looking forward to seeing the finished plane.
those are neat looking planes, that laser engraving a great idea.
That's one book I'd be sure to buy. :)
thx for the link. great videos, bookmarked. ;)
great looking plane. very handsome lever cap. What's the screw in the front for? Some kind of adjustable mouth?
I love my Krenov plane. I just feels right in the hand and has become my favorite smoother.

Wow those legs look massive. How thick is the top?
Great thread! Not sure I'll ever tackle it but I love seeing what some can do with just handtools.
Nice Bench! When I build my 1st real bench it's gonna be a
roubo.
Great looking bench Erik. and I like the roubo style legs being flush with the top.
Thanks for the quick response. Sounds like you learned a lot with this project. I gotta get me a scrub plane, got plenty of smoothers. :)
Oops, forgot to mention, great looking stand, love the figuref wood on top.:)
I'm curious about how you tapered the legs by hand?
I was thinking the same. Better of with harder and cheaper top like Ash. Or rip those boards into thinner strips and laminate.
You'll be able to do them with your eyes closed when you finish this project.:)
Now that's a serious router. LOL!
I'm enjoying your writeup on this Harry. Do you use the dowels to keep them aligned during glueup?
That's a cute kid, and she makes nice shavings. :)
That's surely an heirloom. I like the hardware you chose also.
