I got a small slab of apple of the large auction site that I use for my handle repairs. I've used dye to blend as well as red oak pigment stain (Bad Axe site recommends that IIRC)
Garland has rawhide mallets and I have a split head one with rawhide on one size and urethane face on the other.
Have both videos and highly recommend the Herman video - much more practical. Herman goes through the guide blocks - basically just blocks on the end of the files to help with rake/fleam angles. ...
In case anybody's interested in reclaimed American Chestnut - here's an ad I've been watching in NC CL (no connection to sellers).

I posted in D&D a few weeks back - I picked up the Bench Dog iron top/fence and metal leg set for $300 shipped from Allprotools.com. Haven't had a chance to assemble but there are deals out there.
I have a Corradi Gold cabinet rasp and like it a lot. The recommended handle was too small for the tang though and split when I was seating it. The rasp cuts rapidly (forget which grain) and leaves...
Picked up a Preston infill smoother last year and a machinist chest pretty well stocked with Starrett dividers, calipers etc. (stealth gloat).
As to the OP, that does suck but as others have...
Sandflex blocks in medium and fine with Boeshield Rust Free is what I use (per Bad Axe site). Finish up with Barkeeper's Friend if still bad and Autosol metal polish. I use Ospho Blue to raise...
Just be sure to put the bottom in the drawer before you put glue on your dovetails...DAMHIKT
TFWW sells some pretty affordable fishtails made in USA by Ramelson.
+1 on Evaporust. Amazing stuff - usually don't soak the brass myself. Use Kramer's Antique Improver on the wood and metal too after cleaning.
Used one at Roy's school -very nice. He's got 12 of them. Almost made me want a tool tray.

I have several sets of the Highland Record replacements sets NIB.
I've got the Bucks set but wanted to get an larger one. They're a little rough but I've spent some time on them and they sharpen up nicely. They are ground at 25 IIRC, so I had to flatten down to...
The Best Things has pretty competitive prices and they have both the Sorby and Taylors in stock. I'm trying the 1.5" Sorby but thought long about the 1 1/4 Taylor.
Grobet seems to be the popular choice. TFWW and VintageSaws have pretty much any size you could want.
I like the Incra - I've got the 3 inch pocket rule, 6" and big one (18" I think, maybe longer).
The pencil holes are precise and super accurate. The shorter lengths are the ones I would highly...
It does have a pretty unique almost cone like taper that's like a built in spacer/washer before the threads start. Ill take a pic from one I have in a more complete order (larger saw model)
I am restoring a Landgon and am missing the "kingbolt" - the bolt the is the fulcrum upon which the carriage rotates on. Anybody have a junker/parts that I could get my hands on? Thx in advance.
Of course don't like for them to occur, but in reality they do.
Last year we had a tornado run through my in-laws neighborhood and took out some HUGE old growth oaks/maples. Some of the clean-up...
Klingspor has a new product from Woodjoy, Woodsmith or something like that is a rectangular piece of mdf with a nice edge to use for lapping/SS. I think its like $15.
Maybe its just me being too much of a perfectionist (it is) but I have been thoroughly disappointed with the DMT C/XC DuoSharp plate. I've got the large one and I am amazed at how LONG it takes me...
A japanese flattening plate. Piece of flat steel that you use with diamond paste, loose grit (SC or diamonds), etc. TFWW sells them.
Another option is to buy the clearance priced pieces of O1...
