Only my 2 cents ,the Grizzly cyclone "the growler " - is a overpriced piece of poo .
Most 1 HP blowers have 9" to 10 " impellers , which don't move much air . Even the Harbor Freight 2 HP would be an upgrade ( saw it on clearance in my town ) . Rethinking y our DC , and upgrading ,...
I'm using a Rigid shop vac , plumbed w/ 2.5" clear pipe . Split that w/ a wye to under the saw and the dust port on the saw . A shop made shroud fits under the saw to aid that half , and a better...
One needs to be careful with the compressed air , as you can easily damage your filter . A safer option is a leaf blower , or a battery powered blower . Most every tool brand offers one . Obviously...
I've had 3 of them , with one failure . I overloaded it w/ 1HP disc sander - totally my fault .
Me too . More options on the install also .
I used to use the Dust Stopper from HD , and they were pretty good- not great . I've got 2 work stations using vacs/extractors , and I'm happier with the Dust Deputy . The performance is just a...
Got it . Thanks everyone .
Can videoes be posted on this site ? If so , how ?
Another dedicated viewer , back in the day . What struck me seeing it today is the shop itself wasn't very big . I never had that thought then , but today it's " mid sized " by You Tube standards .
I aree . What are the reasons to consider this design at $4500 ?
I've also just discovered the " This Old House Makers Channel " , made up of the same youtubers we are discussing . How long has this been around ?
This is pretty much my list also .I've been doing this long enough that I'm not looking for instruction or how to do much of anything . It's my entertainment on TV more than anything else , and I...
The two biggest "rabbit holes " one can debate ? I'd say dust collection and open cell vs. closed cell foam . I wouldn't use open cell directly on metal , as it's not a moisture barrier . Opinions...
The Harbor Freight motor is a less than stellar option , and w/ a bigger impeller could fail prematurely . Who can say ?
Without an impeller upgrade , I'd say 5" .
I'm using Clearvue's blast gates sized for 6" sewer/drain PVC . Could not be happier .
I've used 1.5" pins to stop parts from moving/sliding during a glue up , never shot 2" for anything .
Has the time line changed on the new shop , for better or worse ?
Congrats on the new DC . I'm betting we will see your ducting down the road . I'm also eager to see the compressor on the platform . How to drain the water and not make a mess , I'm sure you've got...
let us know how this ends up , I'm eager to hear .
I've built 3 "shop built cyclones" and can offer this . A 2 HP Grizzly blower ( 12 3/4" impeller ) is the smallest that I feel is worth the effort to build . You MUST design and install ducting that...
Glenn , I always enjoy your posts . Something new , functional , works great . Very nice .
Also true for my Jet OSS - on the two smallest sizes .
