Machine: CAMaster 28x40 CNC w/Porter Cable router
Software: Mach3
Problem: Starting on 5/30 while running a profile program, the router would start cutting and then a few minutes later Mach3...
Also, my sheets of 28" x 40" x 0.125" 6061-T6 are purchased locally for $51/ea. I used ThomasNet to find a decent local supplier. Not sure what you've been quoted for 0.190".
Standard PC router.
Using Onsrud 63-622 bits for drilling and profiling. Drilling straight through, no pecking. Profile feeds 0.05" deep at 100ish IPM.
For what it's worth Bob, I only cut 1/4" 6061-T6 aluminum sheets on my CAMaster and I do not use any lubricant. I first drill the holes for the plate pattern then use those same holes to put screws...
Would like to see pictures of your son's theater with all these new signs!
At least show pictures of the work and none of the "behind the scenes" stuff :)
Thanks. I suppose there are endless possibilities with these CNC machines. But because I stick to cutting sheets of aluminum, I don't have the time/opportunity to try everything out :)
Nice way to think outside of the box...I'm still trying to get out :)
I'd be interested in the vinyl cutter whenever that comes to fruition.
How long did one seal take, Jim?

That's awesome, Mike.
I'm having a hard time figuring out why you'd need this though?

Forgot to post last week, but the woodcraft store 30 miles away had the motor and I was back up in running in less than 5 minutes. Now its time to rebuild the old motor so I'm better prepared!
:)
No to Home Depot. Called the wood craft store and purchased over the phone. Hopefully we're back up and running this evening! :)
Nothing like a small hiccup during the busiest season of the year!!
Certainly going to get it fixed to keep around as a spare. No time to fix now. Must buy new :)
Going to double check my local Home Depot first at noon. If they in fact do not have it, I'll place the call.
I'm not THAT big of a risk taker
By a faint miracle, I do. Located a half hour away and they have one motor left in stock. Hope to pick it up tonight.
Other option was to have one overnighted either from Joey or Amazon, but I...
Options are probably severely limited considering the fixture the router motor sits in on the CAMaster...
I watched the PC 7518 motor die a slow death yesterday. it was painful to watch. It's even more painful that the local DeWalt/PC service center doesn't have a replacement motor on hand and Home Depot...
No, it's not bare bones, but close. Considering it's the only PC in the garage, I need it for g-code and occasional surfing of the web. I have read the Mach3 Optimization and implemented as much as...
Mike,
I'm also running Mach on my CAMaster and every so often while running a cutting operation the computer freezes and the machine stops dead in its tracks. 7 times out of 10, it will unfreeze...
I snapped 4 bits in one day because I kept overtightening the collet...lesson quickly learned. Purchased a collet set from PreciseBits and haven't had the problem since.
Seems like that may be a tad overkill for the 1/4" aluminum sheets I cut. :)
Ever break a bit, look around for another bit and can't find one, so you place an order for a couple hundred dollars worth so you're never in that scenario again, and then the day the package...
You sure about this?
I have a full working version of Vectric's Cut2D at home and a trial version here at work. If I create a file in the trial version at work and try to open/import it at home,...
19000 RPM at 85 IPM.
