Thanks Joshua. She a good friend of my wife, so I won't have any problem getting at least a couple of them to look at. I still need to find out if they're all the same kind (The son is into...
My wife is trying to get some more answers. All I've found out so far is that the kid is into Fencing. I've asked LOML to find out if they're all fencing swords, and if so, to get me one so I can...
A friend of my wife has a son that collects swords. They are looking for something to display them. They want something that hangs on the wall, that when displayed, the swords would look like a fan....
Don't laugh, but I usually sand to 1000 grit, then use Mother's Aluminum polish. Does a great job
My son got me this:

I have the Grizzly version of that same jig. It works great. No reason to buy anything else.
I'd give my right arm to be Ambidextrous!
To be honest, I have never even looked at mine. When I change the blade angle, I always use a couple of squares. I never rely on the stops.
Thanks Dan. After looking at the picture you have, I would consider making that "extra" piece just below the apron out of Maple, to match the top. But I like contrasting woods.
Personally, I like the Walnut/Maple combination. I don't think it will look bad at all. If you DO feel the need to "balance" it out, you could do something with the legs, similar to what I did on...
I'm guessing they're stack cut. Stack a piece of walnut and maple together with Double stick tape and cut the curves on both pieces at the same time. They would have no choice but to fit together....
What they said! I've had the 513X for several years, and love it.
Very nice combination, and great execution. Impressive.
With that much suckage, you won't even need a dust collector for it!
Nice grab!
Nope. Never!
I do however, give myself plenty of Design change opportunities!
Yes, it's veneer
The woods are walnut and Bubinga. The finish is several coats of #1 cut shellac, wet sanded with 400 grit. Several more coats of #3 cut f shellac. Wet sanded again, then 5-6 coats of Deft lacquer.
Fresh off the bench. Still need to wipe it down and give it a coat of wax, but here it is. Hope she likes it

I've had that jointer for about 5 years, and it's done a great job for me. You'll enjoy having it. I'm actually thinking about getting a shelix cutter head for it.
My weekend is going to stink, kind of. The delivery company is dropping off my new Jet Mini today (Birthday present from LOML), and I have to finish (still have to start one of them) 2 75" X 45"...
For what it's worth, here is a Bubinga and Cherry table I finished a couple of weeks ago. 4-5 coats of #1 Shellac and 5-6 coats of Deft laquer. All sprayed on.

I'll probably do it myself.
I grabbed:
NewfGuyWoodworks.com
Now, I need to get a site built.
Help me think of a Domain Name.
I'm thinking about setting up a site to sell some of my stuff.
How about Big-Dawg.com?
I need some more ideas.
