Here are a couple of early tool box saws by Disston with nice etches and clean blades. I have had the larger #28 for a while and just acquired the #29. I am including a copy of the 1932 Disston...
The previous owner of the saw sharpened and set the teeth. It is a very respectable and usable wood cutting saw.
Who manufactured "The Musical Saw"? It is marked Mussehl & Westphal. It was marketed for being played as a musical instrument but has a quality tempered steel blade. The medalian is a Warrented...
This is what the chip tote looks like. (Not my saw)

The Wheeler, Madden, and Clemson hits close enough. It is made by Monhagen Saw Works but is one of the vendor named saws. The etch is mostly gone but the Monhagen Saw Works date 1853 is easily...
Here is a little hint, maybe... The etch incorporates a globe.
It is 26" long and 6 1/2" wide. There is currently one for sale on eBay which does have a chip carved handle.
Who made this handsaw? I am not going to show the etch, but I am not sure it would help. The handle is very distinctive. I will say it is American made.
Early Disston with a copper strap repair to the handle. My aunt painted a barn on the reverse.
There is even a couple of stainless steel Disston No. 240 metal cutting saws in the pile. And a Disston toy saw made with the same wood and steel as the full size hand saws and just as sharp.
I was looking through my barrel of old saws trying to decide which saw I wanted to rehab next. Most of them are Disston saws that only need minor cleaning and sharpening. Anyway I thought I would...

I am giving away this plane body for the cost of shipping. It is what it is. It has Stanley behind the knob and Made in USA and No. 10 1/2 behind the frog. It has light surface rust but no...
The 16 happened to be the only saw not in storage before our move and I had a tree needing to come down. The tree was dead and the saw sliced through it like it was a piece of soft pine. Normally I...
I just wanted to show everyone my go to saw which I picked up at the local flea market. It looks just like it did the day I bought it 5 years ago. I didn't take time to clean it up since it is just a...
To my understanding a steel does not sharpen a knife. A whetstone sharpens a knife by putting a smooth edge on the blade. This is good for a straight in cutting motion like a plane and not always...
The plate is arrow straight. The saw is much more rigid than any of my Disstons. This is the first Atkins I have bought and the stiffness surprised me.
I got this 53 at the local antique mall for $8.00. It has light rust, the etch is nice and readable and it has a great wheat tote. The saw looks never to have been touched and is a factory 4 1/2 ppi...
This is the smallest Disston saw I have seen. I am thinking it may have been a toybox saw? Does anyone know know anything about this 12 inch saw?

Nice rehandled old Frankensaw.
I scored this group for under $20 last weekend.

The blade on my 4 is 2 inches wide. I have these parts for an early No 4 if anyone needs them.

Would a front tote and a lever cap of an early Union No 4 fit this No 2? I have a No 4 I bought for parts. The plane was broken but the totes and complete frog assy. are in good condition.
Here's a picture of the logo.

I have an old Stanley #102 plane. Yah, I know it is a cheap piece of ____ but I didn't buy it to be a work horse. I am trying to figure out how old it is but the logo doesn't match any I can find....
