Why not get an older Stanley #4?
I do have both a LN #4 and an old type 16 or so #4.
I enjoy using both. They old one has been well tuned and
has a hock blade and chip breaker.

LV Medium. Plus they have outstanding customer service.
A2 steel will typically keep an edge longer but is harder to hone
O1 will not hold an edge as long but is easier to hone.
So, it's...
I have the Lee Valley double sided leather strop and honing compound and really like it. I really don't think you have to worry about rounding over the edge as it wouldn't be aggressive enough for...
I have the Bosch in the driver and impact. Love them and use them all the time around the house. I also have the Dewalt 12V and the 18v. I always grab the Bosch first.
The impact will use a...
Please STOP all of this stupid bickering. It serves no purpose.
Here it is. LV, Adria, LN, Wetzlof and others. They are all great saws. They all serve the same purpose. It is basically up...
If it is square the inside of the dovetail needs to be pared away to make the pins flush.
In others words pare from both sides.
Looking at it again the boards aren't at a 90 degree angle
I first bought the blue handle Marples chisels from Lowes and was realitively pleased with them. A little soft but good for the price.
Last year I bought the Two Cherries set. I have not...
I have both and only use the MK II. I had problems with the first of getting the angle correct and then getting the blade square in the clamp.
With the MK II there is no problem getting the...
Make sure the blade is sharp. Then skew the plane
Well, I received my #4 yesterday. I didn't get much of a chance to play with it but I did get the blade honed, which is incredibly sharp now (honed with leather strop and LV green). I was able to...
Craftsman Studio has the Iron #4 on sale for $215 right now.
I have been wanting a LN #4 for a while to complement my other planes and now was as good a time as any. ;)
Look for higher quality used tools. Like a Unisaw, 8" jointer, 15" planer, etc.
Good think about buying these things used is if for some reason you find that you don't like woodworking or you...
What about mahogany?
I will just say that I am a FAN!!!
The family and I went to my wife parents Sat. While there my FIL and I run over to his shop to get something for the kids to play with and while there he tells me that he has something for me.

Do you really need to have tolerances less than that on a CMS?
The only thing my CMS is used for is breaking down stock. Any precise miters are cut on the TS.
Not sure that you could find...
I really don't think that you can do a top 5 so here is what I typically use in a project:
Dust Collector
Table Saw
Jointer
Planer
Clamps
Router in a table
Various measuring tools
Marking...
I have that same set up and love them both. They are really great tools.
Also, I recent bought the PS20 and the PS40. These are the 10.8v drill driver and impact driver. They were great for...
I do have a LN #102 and the LV medium shoulder plane. So, yes my feet are sliding and picking up speed.:p
I have been looking alot lately at old planes and have bought a stanley #5 and a stanley #6. I have a new record #4 that I am not too impressed with. It's ok but I think I like the old stuff...
Why do you need a socket-type handle for dovetail chisels?
Like you said you really limit your choices with that.
Chisels that many people here have recommended are LN, blue spruce, and two...
It has been a while since I changed mine but if I remember correctly the motor mount has a bolt that you can loosen and install the belts. Then just tighten the belts and retighten the bolt.
It has a Unifence which is what I have and really like.
Looking at the saw I would say that it is much older that 10yrs, which isn't a bad thing if it is in decent condidtion. They tabletop...
I have the Grizzly g0555 and really like it but had the G0513 been available for that price there wouldn't have been a second thought.
Get the G0513. Without question.
I have the Veritas 4" double square and the Starett 6" combo (off ebay) and love them. Use them all the time when I'm able to get in the shop.
