I'm curious why duct insulation is usually foil covered. My conjectured explanation is that ductwork is often left exposed (e.g. in basements or shops) so some sort of covering for the fiberglass...
I watch YouTube videos where HVAC technicians effortless drive screws into metal ducts when there is nothing hard behind the metal to support it. I find doing this difficult. Is there a secret...
My post was moved from Off Topic into the Workshops section, so it's natural to assume the goal is dust collection, but I'm actually assembling duct for heating and cooling.

Is there a standard fitting for an outlet vent on 10 inch round heating duct when the duct is in a narrow passage and the vent must vent out the side of the passage?
I could fabricate a box shaped...
As well as paying for reviews that tout their own product, companies (in countries that don't enforce libel laws) can also pay for reviews that blast their competitors.
I'm sure there is a power saving mode involved, but could the computer command the TV to turn off? When the computers are used with dedicated monitors (as opposed to TVs) the monitors may go into a...
I use Samsung "smart" TVs as monitors on several computers. These TVs automatically turn off after a duration of getting "no signal", However, they count a static computer display as "no signal". ...

The crackers sold nowadays as "original" Ritz crackers are not the Ritz cracker that I remember from my youth. Modern Ritz crackers are better. They are flaky and sightly buttery. As I remember the...

My thoughts based on using older model 600 series Roombas. Expect to get your hands dirty. Over the years I've used them daily and done many repairs on them. The most involved "repair" was...
My concern is about the height of the trap outlet (the pipe through the wall) above (or below) the drain outlet on the washing machine. Does this matter at all?
If the pipe through the wall is...
In plumbing for a washing machine drain, is there a limit on how high the outlet of the p-trap can be relative to the outlet of the drain that's built into the base of the washing machine?

Will you be able to re-roof without uninstalling the panels?
Solid as in steel or solid as in "never-flat" rubber tires? Never-flat tires are fine if you deal with moderate loads rolled over only moderately rough surfaces. They are much harder to roll over...
I'm curious how you arranged that. Did you have a standard type dryer vent with a door flap to keep bugs out? How do I arrange the connection so the dryer can be pulled away from the wall when the...
If you are talking about the issue of lint build up inside dryers, yes, it is because not all the hot waste air is ducted through the filter. There are many felt seals in dryers, including a felt...
I agree that it should do that theoretically. However, since lint comes out of the drum and gets into the chassis, it's clear that some air is also coming out of the drum - at least in the dryers I...
Given how much lint builds up inside dryers, I'd say a lot of the air in the chassis is leaking out from the drum. I guess that counts as recycling some air.
