What model bandsaw is this? How much is it worth?
I am wondering if it's worth effort and time to fix yourself vs selling it at a discounted rate for someone else to repair.
That kinda looks like 10/4 SOOW cord. I wouldn't worry about the wiring size, the cord you have is sufficient so long as it's in good shape.
Are you continuing to attempt powering the machine up...
Do you have a phase converter? You will not be able to run the SCM on single phase 220v.
Just rehab the one you have. They aren't complicated. May need oil, or a new seal kit, etc. Throw a fresh coat of paint on if you're concerned about looks.
Google search is your friend:

That wouldn’t keep the blade from coming off.
I’m actually a little confused at what we’re looking at. What saw is this?
Shouldn't cleaning and maintenance be a part of the everyday workflow of a shop whether garage based or out of a commercial space? I can be quite lazy with this but as George stated a respirator and...
just trying to be helpful… :D :D
While more than your planned budget, the SCM is pretty much a one and done solution. It’s a great value given all the options, accessories, age, and condition. It will hold its value as an...
Where are you located? Are you set on a new machine? Do you have three phase available?
I’m asking because you’re likely to be able to get a into a really nice older euro machine at that price...
No. I’m talking about milling from logs vs purchasing rough lumber. Rough lumber is not surfaced at all.
You would think so. The track in the trunnion is right about 12.25mm, whereas the pin is about 11.95mm.
I've have an account at MacBeath. I think Macbeath was ~$12 for 8/4 WO and Moore Newton is about $2 less. I haven't explored much beyond those two sources.
Added some fender washers to the pin; reduced the amount of play markedly. I'm unable to apply much torque to the small torx head however.
The pin is a hair under 12mm in diameter. I may try an...
I have to claim ignorance as I haven’t looked at many trunnion’s, don’t know what a good one looks like. Do know that ACM made this one.
I like the idea of replacing it with a bolt. I don’t...
I'm pondering the economics of a mill vs buying rough lumber at retail/wholesale. In the Bay Area, depending on where you shop hardwoods like Oak and walnut can run up to $15-18bf/ft, or more for...
I picked up a 2015 Laguna LT24x24 bandsaw a few weeks back. During the process of moving it, I found that that table was loose. One of the trunnion bolts was tightened up which help a bit. ...
I’ve been meaning to ask and see what solutions people have come up for this; an easily deployable router sled setup for use outside that is also flat.
My Laguna didn’t even come with one. Buy what you want.
In practical use, is a stroke sander a viable alternative to the wide belt sander?
I occasionally see these for sale. They require considerably less power to operate, simple in construction,...
So the HSS/M42 blades are ~$80 set vs $600 for carbide. Can you guys comment on lifespan between the two for common hardwoods?
Thanks, I'm in the process of getting it cleaned up. Will ask as issues come up.
$600 for a set of carbide knives.
Edit: I just pulled the existing blades out. Three different blades...
I just picked up a 1999 era SCMI s520 planer with Tersa head. Anybody have an owners manual? Or where to get one? These machines don’t change much over time, so an older or newer one would likely...
Warren,
What vintage/model L’Invincible do you have? I’m currently weighing whether to hold out for an older s63 or a newer s630/s520. The older s63 series are growing on me and they appear to...
Thanks Albert, that’s quite interesting. What are the compressor or air line requirements for that?
