Nice. I'm waiting for a picture with all the tools and toolholders installed...
To the opening post, I have a fein turbo ii and find it indispensable. For me it's worth the cost just for the noise reduction, automatic start/stop is a great feature as well and I've never had a...
Pictures? Sounds interesting.
Patrick, the design of your project is probably the important factor here. A bowtie could look fantastic but they can be deployed carelessly as well, not all of us are Nakashima. I would dress that...
To the opening post, everything done by the domino can be accomplished another way so it is not essential but rather a matter of convenience or efficiency. I've had one for years and I use it several...
Build a large cabinet for it, scrape off the flakes and seal. Use the old hardware.
I've never seen it done, but I suppose it might work, You will get more tenon length if you put the mortises in perpendicular to the miter cut.
I've never had a problem putting dominos in a carcass miter after it is cut, just keep in mind it is done from the inside so the top and sides must be the same thickness or the outside will not line...
Hi David, I agree pretty much with Jack, if you have a domino, use it, It will work fine for this application. I would put them on three or four inch increments. There are other joints that will work...
Strip the galvanization off with a hour or two in lemon juice or white vinegar. Wet it and let sit overnight.
Some waterlox formulations have changed as well to be be voc friendly. Still a great product.
I like how you got all that on a small footprint. The large loop hose storage and the sander sitter look especially convenient. Nicely done. Festool makes something like that for several thousand...
By hand. As long as its just a board or two.

Here it is finished. One coat of safflower oil, and two brush coats of shellac, steel wooled to a dull shine.

A few detail shots...

The through tenons were wedged.
I call it the "use the stuff you have" vernacular.
Hi Jack. Drilling is faster when I'm the one doing it...:) I'm not sure where it will end up. I may use it as a bedside table and as overflow seating in the living room.

Most of the waste was removed with a chisel.

The face of the joint was trued up with a router plane.
283372
After some fitting, the joint slid together.
283365
Drilling a hole to remove waste is faster than chopping.
283364
Sawing out the waste.
283366
Half of a bridle joint with just a little paring left undone.
283358
I scored the layout knife marks with a chisel and cut away a bit on the waste side creating a little wall to guide the saw.
283357
Sawing the shoulders.
283359
Sawing the tenons. First...

I marked the legs using the dovetail chopped into the top.
283352
I carried the marks down the sides of the legs and pared out the waste.

After a lot of fitting and...
I rescued a walnut scrap from someone's discard pile. It looked like it wanted to be a stool.

I liked the organic edge and wanted to keep it, so I dressed it up a little with a drawknife....

Ukulele kit, $23. Assembly required.
I thought the advantage of miller dowels is that glue does not wipe off the full length during installation.
It has a metal brackets inset in the back, on each end to hang on a screw. I set them 16" inches apart so they both catch a stud.
It depends. It seems there are two different ways of extracting the oil, one which produces high polyunsaturated fats and the other high monounsaturated. The monounsaturated variety can be easily...
