Jill,
Honest question from a bandsaw newbie... Why is zero drift so important? I realize it is possible, but very difficult to achieve. It's very simple and accurate to adjust the fence for drift.
there are quite a few of us who are both. The same thing that attracts us to woodworking also attracts us to tying flies.
Practical artistry.
Not to drag up an old thread, but just got a 1412 this week. This is also my first real bandsaw. I had a table top Craftsman. I hesitate to even mention it.
I bought a Resaw King blade, and...
Maybe I'm missing something, but why don't you just open the drywall behind where the the cabinets will be and run the wire prior to hanging the cabinet? Then when you hang the cabinet any hole in...
I just had new custom kitchen cabinets installed in a 180 year old house. There isn't a single wall or floor that is plumb, level or square. It took a lot of shims to get those cabinets installed...
That is correct. We just played with the positioning of the knobs using double sided tape until my wife was satisfied with the look :D. Then I took the measurements and transferred them to the jig.
There isn't really a standard. It's preference. I just had to do this on new cabinets in the kitchen. 2 1/2" wide rails and stiles. I positioned the knobs centered on the stiles and 3" from the...
The guy that built my custom kitchen and bathroom cabinets gets his stuff at Roddis in San Antonio. The insides of those cabinets look better than my dining room table.
Mine aren't cherry, but...
$26 for that much usable wood? That's a pretty good deal even if it was bought last year at Home Depot and left outside to weather.
nice job.
this is what I did, except I used Formica instead of hard board. It is 48x72 and sits on top of two old Craftsman steel workbench bases I have.
It is extremely solid and stable.
I live in a 180 year old house with lead paint. I bought an EPA certified hepa filtered shop vacuum to deal with lead paint chips. It's expensive, but not compared to the cost of lead poisoning.

That's a great tip. I don't yet have a Jointer and need to join some long stock. I was trying to figure out a way to use my TS, but this could be done with my track saw.
I was going to put a mini split in my shop, but had one similar to this that we used on a sun porch at our previous house....
One hint when beginning. Stick with painted pieces while starting out. That way, if your joints, and cuts aren't absolutely perfect, and they probably won't be, you can fill the gaps with paintable...
That looks way too nice to be in my shop.
Really nice work though.
That's kind of what I was thinking of doing. Thanks.
Does anyone have any experience with this? It looks pretty handy and I know they make good stuff.
I'll get around to building my own jigs eventually, but I have some projects I need to get...
Just went through a similar decision. I went with the shorter rails because I have a smaller shop and don't break down a lot of sheet goods. When I do, I find my track saw works well for a one man...
I agree, but I still don't want to go back. Wait until you get your new saw aligned and start using it. You will be amazed at the difference a decent saw makes.
That's pretty cool Joe. Thanks for sharing
I just upgraded away from the same saw. That sliding table was cheesey, but it worked pretty well.
Anyhow, last night I tried starting with the Miter guage off the table, being very careful, and...
If it is like my PM64B it has adjustable feet on the base. The easiest way to level it would be at the floor
Cooling mode will also dehumidify the room. Don't think it's adjustable though.
Oh man. I could have really used that hoist a couple of weeks ago when assembling my table saw. Great looking shop.
