I agree with what you say about bowls Prashun, it is just that I have made so many, and that is relative to what I have turned, that I like to try things that are different. I have over two dozen...
My vote is for the top to remain just as it is, for me, it works fabulously.
Alan, I will never have the skills and artistic talent that most who post here have but I have always enjoyed and appreciate tools and working with them. There are only a couple of additional tools...
Two additional items used.

A little cyclone system, works great and no more emptying the bag.

My vacuum system that I put together using a Gaust pump.
Now the lathe equipment.

Depth gauge with laser that I built, works great and only had to purchase the laser.

I know this is not an absolute necessity but I use it...
Perhaps this will not be of interest to many but I always enjoy seeing the tools that others use in their hobby/work so thought I would post some of mine. My shop is cleaned so infrequently that I...
Extremely nice Larry, I would not even think of attempting such a project.
Exceptional workmanship and creativity Kathy, you should be proud!
Very rich and elegant looking John, but then, what else would we expect from you.
Very nice Allen, just cannot go wrong with walnut and this piece is exceptional.
Hi Mike, the area was cleaned to allow the setup to be seen, first time in years. I had recently roughed out about 30 walnut bowls so you can image how things were covered up.
Really appreciate the info Ken, battery packs are a pet peeve of mine.
Great piece of wood and finish, I like the form.
Sharpening station with Baldor slow spend grinder, CBN 8" 180 grit and Norton blue 3X K 80 grit wheels, Tormek fixtures and jigs.

The comments that I have read on the Tool Mule rail system have not been very favorable, however, for my situation, it works fabulously. All of my equipment is on castors allowing me to move them as...
Awesome piece, both wood and treatment.
That should keep you occupied for a while Kathy. Nice looking wood, made a neat bowl, with a little help from you of course.
Yep, ditto what others have said, very impressive piece.
Beautiful wood and form Bernie, makes one want to pick it up and rub it.
Bill, you should be very proud of this piece, look at all the smiles and memories that your adventure has produced. Pretty wood and impressive execution, IMO.
Congratulations Kathy, a special person has gifted another special person with a very generous gift. I have two of the beaders and use them often. BTW, I like the little bowl, pretty wood.
Hi Kathy, I do not have a clue as to what is right or wrong so all I can say is that I really like it, pretty wood and I like the shape.
That is a real shame Mike, it would have made a very interesting piece. But on the bright side, look at the experience gained and the lesson learned. Too bad the grandkids were close.
It looks so real one can almost smell it, nicely done.
