While turning this chunk of Cherry, I had to battle it out with a colony of carpenter ants, a nest of termites, and a handful of huge unidentified black bugs. I literally had to stop turning every 2-3 minutes so I could clean the bug splats off my face shield and sweep all the creepy-crawlers from around the lathe and off of me. I can say that it was definitely worth the fight. The walls wound up being about 1" thick because of the deep see-thru inclusions. The bowl measures 13 1/2" across and 6 1/2" tall. I was able to core a smaller bowl from this one and give it to the man who supplied the burl. It was DA soaked(mainly to kill the bugs), then applied with Danish Oil and several coats of lacquer.
