Looking for resources in Long Island, NY

I recently relocated to Long Island, NY (Northport) and am looking for some resources. Specifically, where to buy hardwoods, and where to buy tools and supplies. I had a Rockler close by in California and a few good hardwood suppliers. Any advice is appreciated. Tim

If you don't mind going up to Whiteplains,Maurice Condon Boat Lumber Co. has a great selection of all kinds of hardwoods, and have been nice to deal with. They have ebony, mahogany, etc. Try googling them.

Their are only three real hardwood suppliers on LI.
Roberts Plywood, very good selection, all species and thickness, nothing
over 12'. Located in Deer Park area.
J&A Lumber, used to be very good, selection has dwindled way down with
slow economy. Located in Ronkonkoma. More expensive than
    Robert's.
Woodply, good selection, most expensive of the three. Located in Freeport.

Tools, Dynamite Tools, great tool store with
very large selection. Good to very good prices. http://www.dynamitetoolco.com/aboutus.asp

    Tim,

Hi, I'll second Richard's recommendation for Dynamite tool - not far from Northport.
Also, Ace Tool in Wantagh (not ace hardware) http://www.acetoolonline.com/

At work we get lots from Roberts Plywood, my previous job from J&A.

    Good Luck,

    Pete

Teriffic, thanks for the resources. I'll check them out this weekend. Finally got my shop together in my new place and ready to get back to work!

in addition to robert's ply, try adriatic lumber in east new york for hardwoods. also, rosenzweig in the bronx... i use adriatic first if possible but rosenzweig has wenge, ebony, and other interesting species as well as large sizes of more common hardwoods. both places let you pick through the stacks if you want/need to.
