    Question about newer Corel Versions

    Hi everyone,

I'm using CorelDraw 11. Do you have the option to create your own linestyles or patterns in newer versions? I'm also using Xara as alternative software and there I can do that by defining a shape as a brush, but I don't like switching from one to the other and rather have it done in one program.

    Thanks, Andrea

P.S. to better explain what I'm asking I attache a picture

Assuming your duplicate offset distance is set to ZERO in both directions:

    1. Place your first heart on the circle as you want it to appear.
    2. Press the "+" key on your keyboard to duplicate the heart (or press
    Ctrl+D).
    3. Click on the new duplicate heart (which is sitting on top of the original
heart) to get the rotation handles.
    4. Drag the rotation point (small cirlce with a dot in the middle of it) to
    the centre of the circle.
    5. Enter 72 degrees into the rotation angle input box on the Property Bar &
    hit your Enter key.
    6. Press Ctrl+D to keep producing automatically rotated hearts until all of
    the hearts are made.
Adjust your degrees to more or less to match the numbers you desire.
    This works in X3.

Thank you, Jack - the method you're describing also works in Corel 11.

I rather mean a pattern which is automatically assigned along a path, like a linestyle. Maybe using a circle as a path, wasn't a too good example

    Andrea,
Jeff Harrison has a video of what you are talking about.
    If you google "distribution-of-shapes-around-circle"
    you should get the video.

If you look under your effects menu see if you have "artistic media". That should allow you to do what I think you're after. You can create your own design and add it to the default file.

yes, Mike that's what I meant thank you !

I found out that I can save the object as "spray can" and use it then. I guess that I still have to toggle between Corel and Xara, because in Xara I have a better control on brush spacing and rotation - like this
