    Cherry chest of drawers...

Here is the second piece of our baby room that I finally finished and brought up to her room. It goes with the crib I built about a month ago:
    http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=133526

It is made out of cherry with curly maple inlays. The top is made of one 11" wide board and the sides are of a 12" wide and a smaller board.
All drawer fronts are from one board resawn.
The drawer boxes are from maple with all 4 corners box joint.
I made a simple box joint jig to be used with my Incra miter gauge and it worked great (micro-adjustable). It was my first try at box joints as well as first try at ogee feet. I am satisfied how they came out.
The finish is Don's magic mix. The drawer fronts have an amazing grain that don't fully show in the photos.
I have a few progress pics that will post if there is interest.

Wow, it looks great. I love the details and the figure on the drawer fronts. Nice work.

That’s a lucky baby coming into this world. Beautiful job on the dresser, it matches the crib very well. Did you do the column work also?
The due date should be just around the corner, right?

    Thanks.
Yes I made the columns too (they match the ones I built for the crib).
She is due in less than a month (doctor says could be in two weeks).

Mreza, that has to be one of the nicest pieces of furniture for a baby's room that I have seen. Good for you, you even have it ready ahead of time!

    Thank you all.

Regarding the slides: they are the soft closing full extension ones (I liked the option of soft closing). I thought about going with the under-mount ones but at $35/each they were a bit pricy (and heavy) for a baby's room.

35? I get the blum tandems soft close for around 20.00/pr.

You must be shopping at rockler.

Oh well 20.00/drawer is still expensive.

    That is outstanding!

The slides don't detract one single bit!

"The drawer fronts have an amazing grain that don't fully show in the photos"..... Meraz

I would have to argue that Meraz as the drawer front grain looks pretty outstanding to me. It may be better physically but.. hard to imagine. Excellent job on the build as the piece just sparkles. That's a lucky baby you have with custom furniture.

    Well done...

Another outstanding piece of furniture Mo.
Beautiful attention to the details like the columns and feet..
I for one would like to see some of the build pics. Can't have to many pics.

    Quick question.
Where did you get cherry like that here in Edmonton?
    Great job again.
