    Dining Table Started

I managed to get a start on my dining table today. The top will be made of 2 bookmatched figured cherry planks, each ~22" wide. I ripped each to allow planing (they had about 3/8" of cup), then jointed and planed them. I put some mineral spirits on just to see what I had - I was delighted!

I will not be able to get rid of all the sap wood, so I will have to feature it on the outside edges.

    Cheers

That is one serious chunk of cherry.

Can't wait to see the final.

Hans, I assume those are flitch cut - they are gorgeous! This table is going to be a great addition to the chairs. I assume that is the intent?

    Hans --

I'm like you, prefer to usually cut the sapwood out......BUT......

this case I think you've got a winner of a TOP! It's going to add some beautiful accents -- nicely done!
