    Antique Stanley level

My son received this old Stanley level from a friend as a gift.....it was sitting in an old farm tool shed. The patent dates samped onto the brass name plate are 1891 and 1896. The level is solid wood, is 28 1/4" long, 1 3/8" wide and 3 1/16" tall. Both vials are full and both ends are capped with solid brass plates. The level is not accurate ad I'm not sure yet if adjustments are possible. The level looks like it was used for many years and has a very nice grundge/dirt patina. I have no idea of it's value, but I imagine this was a high volume everyman's tool and not worth much. It's really cool to hold old tools and wonder who owned them and what type of jobs they were used on.

I started with absolutely nothing. Now, thanks to years of hard work, careful planning, and perseverance, I find I still have most of it left.

I enjoy the feel of old tools as well. You might want to post this over at Neaderthal Haven.
