Here is my #1 cat, Skittles:

Here he is sticking his tongue out at the camera. Actually for some reason he has his tongue out a lot.

Here he is resting after a day of hunting mice.

He is actually a cat that was feral in our California neighborhood and adopted us. He didn't really like the idea of leaving the old neighborhood and bolted when we were moving. After a few months my wife went back and was able to catch him to move up here. He took a little while to get used to the new more open surroundings, but now seems to love it. During the warmer months he wants to go out first thing in the morning. Even with a fresh bowl of food he will only take a few bites before he runs to the door to be let out. At night, he likes to stay out as late as he can. He bangs the screen to let us know he is willing to come in for the night.

It may be hard to train cats, but they seem to know how to train us.

A beautiful cat, sir. For one of our next cats, my wife wants a grey one....I can see why.

Our little girl started out as a little guy, on the word of a smart good friend. She had the little bags under her tail and was quite convincing - I did not overly scrutinize - I trusted my friend . Took "him" to the vet to be neutered and soon learned that we had a pregnant female. She too was feral. Spent the first 9 months of her life out in the woods and through a Maine winter. Now she lives with us and has still to decide if we are "safe" enough. Good pet but a little quirky. Yes, it is easy to be trained by them.

Anyway here she is - my shop cat Orlanda - Should have been Orlando - if you know the Virginiia Woolf story - but we settled on Orlanda, a.k.a. Lanni.

Reminds me of one of my cats who is long gone, a very good cat whose life was wayyy to short.

Here is one of the best cats we've ever had. It is my girlfriend's cat and has a different personality. Very needy but has a mean streak. The things she does never cease to make us laugh out loud at her.

A beautiful dog...and thank you for posting a pic taken in an actual wood working shop with sawdust on the floor. it may sound petty, but I am so tired of the hospital room clean shops shown in publications like FWW. A woodworking shop should have shavings and sawdust on the floor!

Have a very close friend with a Shih Tzu, they are very good dogs. Methinks to be politically correct for our forum, you need a second dog with a LV hat on him/her.

Here's my neurotically clingy shop dog. 100% mutt from the DC Humane Society--probably part Rottie, part American Boxer. Got her when she was about a year old, already missing her tail. Even though she's a complete wuss, she's 60 lbs of muscle who likes loudly and excitedly running to the door whenever someone rings the doorbell, which scares the bejezus out of the Chinese delivery guy.

    Here's my apprentice.

He is only 6 months old now and all the does is make a mess in the shop.
He runs in steals an off cut and legs it outback and chews it to bits.
He's a boarder collie with red instead of black and white markings :-)

Now? I kinda thought I always was. My sanity (or lack there of) and my love of cats have always been well known. My avatar is Bubbles for crying out loud!
Woodworking is terrific for keeping in shape, but it's also a deadly serious killing system...

No LV hat, but this is Rufus the golden retriever taken 10 years ago. He is a tad too large to be a bench dog now ..

Never saw enough of TPB to know anything other than who bubbles is. I had to youtube it to see his cat segments. You need to get some matching glasses now!

Yeah, "kitties" are pretty much his main schtick. If you have Netflix online, one of the movies is on there. It's pretty awful but also pretty funny. I haven't seen much of the show either. I should have Netflix send me the show on DVD...I enjoyed the movie and I hear the show is MUCH funnier. Those glasses are pretty sweet, alas I have 20/20 vision so no glasses would magnify my eyes like that and still allow me to see at all.

What a fine family of friends and great stories. It is heartening to see others loving their rescues. All of our cats were feral before they adopted us, so I guess they are also rescues. Just not sure who rescues who.
