Smile Trying to help out Roger, Acorn Bird Houses

Made these over the last couple of days and posting just to let Roger know that turning is still going on.

My church has a staff of 31 so made a acorn for each person as a gift for Christmas. Not going to wrap, it will be first come first to get a house. Also I won't be offended if some folks don't care for one. Kids on the street will like for Christmas if I have any left.

Woods used are Walnut, Maple, Ambrosia Maple and Burr Oak. Go from about 3/4" x 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 x 2 1/2. All sprayed with lacquer. Got pretty fast toward the end.

I made the display as well. About 24" tall, bottom rack is 12" diameter and top is 10". Each disc is 1/4" plastic cut on the bandsaw.

What a nice gift for them. Enjoy the moment.

  3. Well Steve............I guess there is something happening ..........glad you posted. That is a lot of work, 31 acorn birdhouses.........with all the birds taking the acorns to live in, I guess the squirrels will just have to find holes to live in!

That is a LOT of birdhouses. Nice job on them all too.

I guess that I have been more of a lurker lately, some non-turning projects going on.
