Hey guys, I'm currently building a king size bed for my wife and I (thread in project section). Building it completely out of red oak. Getting down towards the end and starting to think about finishing options. I have finished a few things before but never anything that I have cared about so much. Much of my experience has been with staining and then a brushed on polyurethane top coat. The wife has decided on a stain (Rustoleum Carrington) it's pretty dark. I have stained wood before but what I'm really curious about is what would be the best "clear coat" for a not overly super shiny, while still durable finish. Would like to avoid the thick looking hardened clear coat finish like you see on bars....anyway I'm blabbering, any tips or suggestions y'all could offer me would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am not set up to spray any finish at this time.
