I have a piece that I soaked in Pentacryl to keep it from cracking.
while it didn't crack, I've not been able to get any finish to stick to the wood now.

The wood is very waxy and seems to be all the way through.
Its only about 1/16 thick so I can't sand much (actually cant sand at all since it just clogs the sandpaper)

Tung oil just dried waxy and scraped right off.

Are there any suggestions or should I just give and reduce the heating bill?
Its an interesting piece so I wouldn't mind saving it

(BTW - overall my success rate with Pentrcryl was not that high and it was a major pain, so I've moved on to better methods)

thanks
Olaf
