    A quick, inexpensive, & easy project with good results

    Hey all,
    I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Heres a fast project I came up with for SWMBO. Its a free standing set of shelves that will be painted and placed in our master bath. Heres the parts list, and prices:

    8 feet of crown moulding - free (trim job extra)
    8 feet of baseboard - free (same job)
    (4) 2 x 2 x 8's - $9.00
    (2) 2 x 4 x 8's - $6.00
    (3) 2' x 4' sheets 1/2" mdf - $17.00
    (3) packs "L" brackets and screws - $6.00

    TOTAL = $38.00

    You could buy the crown and baseboard for around $15.00, if needed. I spent a full day in the shop building it, mainly because I was building this "on the fly".
    It's about 20" square and 70" tall. Its heavier than it looks and very stable. She plans to put towels, face cloths etc on the shelves. I'll spend another day sanding and painting so this could be a good weekend project with tangible results.

    Enjoy,

    DS

    Good job Dave.

    The problem for me is that with my skills, I'd go through about $300 of lumber to produce the same thing.

    Very nice job. Good design and fairly simple to construct. I like the detail on the base molding.
