Cool Looking for Pedestal table plans and "lessons learned"

I would like to build a round dining table (approximate 56” dia) with a pedestal base. The table will expand to accept 2 or 3 leaves. I am looking for an existing plans and especially lessons learned from this type project. The table will be made from air cured ash that has been stickered and stored in the dry for 2 years. I have planed some of the boards and they are just beautiful. Thanks.

    Gene,
I made an smaller pedistal table in the Maloof style that is documented in this thread.

It can be made in any size. Sam makes these in many sizes. The one in the first picture is scanned from his book and is 28 1/2" x 42". I would be glad to answer any question you may have on this type of a project.

If I were making one that expanded I'd just make one like Sam's 42", split the column on my Band Saw and split the top. And make a 14" leaf. The hardware for the slides is available from several comercial suppliers.
