Delta Hollow Chisel Mortiser - Broken Cogs on Handle

The cast (or sintered metal) section of the handle on my Delta Model 14-650 Hollow Chisel Mortiser had a gog break off Sunday while I still had about 30 more square holes to drill. There must have been 4 cogs initially, and there were evidence of two broken sections, so one must have broke off earlier. Needless to say, I was very anxious and caution with the last holes to try to get to glue time today. Now tomorrow, I can call Delta and find out the damage to buy a new handle that includes the cast cog head. Has this been a problem for others? You might take a look at your cogs on the handle and check for cracks to a avoid a breakdown at a critical time.

    Yep.

Broke the handle on a Delta 14-651 in the same manner. bought two replacements after that.

If you lived closer. I'd loan ya' one. It sucks to be in the middle of mortising, and have the handle break.

I don't remember that they were too terribly expensive.
