    Homemade carving Knife

I just completed this woodcarving knife. The blade is 1 1/2" long and was made from a piece old industrial bandsaw blade which is about 10" wide. The handle is from a peach tree trimming I have had around for a few years. There is a coat of BLO on the handle to bring out the grain.

This is my first attempt at making a blade, I cut it out of the bandsaw blade using a thin cutoff disc in an angle grinder. I shaped it on a bench grinder and shaped the bevel using a belt sander. I used the scary sharp method to finish the blade going from 320 up to 2000 grit and it stropped it till shiny. It is razor sharp.

I am pleased with the way it turned out. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. The whole project probably took about 4 hours.
