Rat Rod drill press mobile base

We have hundreds of pounds of metal left beside one of the buildings that came with our place 42 years ago. I thought I would paint it, but decided that "I like a speckled axe best", and it would look out of place anyway if it was painted.

A 5 year old child can easily move it now. It's very stable, and only raised 3/4" than it is without a base.

The concrete screed is just to set the height of the work support roller.

I put the locking casters to the back to keep them out of the way of feet. You only need to lock one to stabilize it anyway. Total cost was for the caster set.

This is an early '70's Powermatic 1150 that I use in the mechanic/metal shop. I park a tractor with mower in there, so need to make stuff easy to move out of the way. I've never been that impressed with commercial mobile bases, if you really want to do much moving of tools.

I have the pieces cut out for the 24" bandsaw, and might get it hot glued together tomorrow. These are 4" casters. The big bandsaw will get 6" so I can roll it outside.
