I won a piece of cherry at my turners' meeting on Sunday. Chris Ramsey left it after doing a hat and bowl demo a couple of weeks ago. A friend suggested I try to make a few bowls out of it but when I got home, I decided to try my first big bowl. After all, with all my experience, ( 1 small bowl, 5 magic wands for the kids, and watching Steve Ash make a goblet), I felt ready. After about two hours of clinching, my pooper finally relaxed and the bowl was roughed out. My concern is the big knot at the bottom. I put CA on it cuz I think someone suggested that and I am trying to follow Dennis' DNA method, but was wondering what I should look for when doing the final shaping.
Any suggestions would be helpful!
