    secretary gallery

    hi all
    got a question about finishing a secretary that I am working on. it has a very complicate gallery and I think that I have to finish all the piece / parts first and then put them together. how would you guys do it?

    Use a water based dye for any color modification prior to assembly. Try to keep it off of gluing surfaces. But if you do get a little on there it's no big deal. Then assemble. Use a wiping varnish/poly so that you can get into the nooks and crannies without runs becoming an issue.

    That is usually the way I do it. It comes with its own complications, but it is nice to have hand rubbed parts in places that you could not normally do. Have a total finishing plan before you start so you don't back yourself into a corner.
