My 3000th post (and a short Historical Journey with Dewey) COOL LINKS!!!

Well folks, it has certainly been one heck of a ride since I joined last year in February. Pat Germain and I had just attended a class with David Marks when he turned me on to this forum.

I can honestly say that I have grown plenty in that time-frame BC of the Creek and for that I say thanks. Most of my posts have been complementary in nature as I find it is very important to encourage woodworking... that is why most all of us are here right? Some of my posts have helped folks solve problems and try new things in woodworking and I really love that.

I do not claim to be a woodworking genius or have posted mind-blowing stuff but the fact is when I need a wood working fix without being able to work in the shop, or I need place to ask a WW question, this is it, and has been since I signed up.

Thanks to all of the wonderful friends I have made here and thank you all for making my woodworking experience most enjoyable.

Also a special thanks to (not in any order here):

Walt Caza and the Morris Chair gang
Ken Fitzgerald, Steve Schlumpf, and the vast members of the turning community (too many to mention but you know who you are… especially those who bombed me!)
Jim Kountz and the Collaboration box gang
Pat Germain (without him I wouldn’t be here)
My Goat Locker Bothers…hey we need a sister!?
    All my registered friends
And all of the rest of you who I may have played PM tag, post tag, or helped me out along the way (sales transactions included)
    SMC Rocks!!!

Dewey, I certainly have enjoyed your presence here on the creek. And, as a relatively newcomer, I also share your feelings about the need to get a woodworking "fix" from SMC. My wife says that I am addicted to this site, but tells me that even with the tool obsession I have acquired (the blame for which is placed squarely with fellow creekers), it is cheaper than bar hopping, chasing women, and playing golf (which I hate.)

This is a great community, with so many diverse personalities, but all sharing a common purpose. Great source of information, and a wonderful place to share ideas.

Hey Dewey!! Congrats on the 3k posts, you're going to catch ol Jim Becker before ya know it!!
Glad to have made your acquaintance and have really enjoyed our chats and phone conversations. Your outlook on life and woodworking is always positive and its been a real thrill doing the collaboration project with you and all the others involved.
Now do me a favor and stay away from the lathe for a while, you're making the rest of us look bad and we need time to catch up!!
If at first you don't succeed, look in the trash for the instructions.

    Well Jim,
I have been back to work on the Morris Chair this weekend.
Hey... I can still do flatwork!

You are right Jim! At my current blinding pace of roughly 3000 posts per year it will only take me 10 to 11 years if he stops posting today

Sheesh Becker is a posting madman

Dewey - I am new to SMC and enjoy your comments. I haven't posted much yet (less than 100) but hope I can share some of my experiences (good and bad) and have already learned a lot from SMC.

I am glad to see that there a lot pf people on the site with a god sense of humor.

Dewey Torres? I know that dude!

Wow, 3000 posts. I have a few months on you and I'm just over 1500. Dollars to donuts, most of that 3000 is in the Turners forum. After all, that's how you became a "TURNING TERROR!".

It seems like just last week we were in that David Marks class. I said, "Hey, Dewey, I hope you don't mind. I asked David to lunch and he accepted".

Your answer was, "Do I mind? Hell no, that's awesome!". I'll never forget how thrilled you looked sitting next to David Marks at Red Robin. Did you even eat your burger?

Thanks for all you've taught me since we discovered we were both woodworkers. I've come a very long way in the past couple years thanks to you and the other great folks here on SMC.
