    A couple new bowls

The first is the second Ive turned out of the blanks that I laminated out of Walnut and hard white Maple.

The second is my take off of a Bob Hamilton project from his website. True economy is the title of his article. It is lace wood and ebony. I am not at all crazy about the shape but since it is a nested bowl there was little I could do about that after the glue up. Next time I will know better.

I like the shape and colors on the first bowl Mike, nice and well done, the second one doesn't turn my crank, still looks well made also :-))
    Have fun and take care

Mike - I find both bowls very interesting and think you did a pretty good job on the joinery and finishes. Looking forward to seeing what you turn next!

    Mike,
I like them both, but think the lacewood bowl is cool.

I like the lacewood & ebony bowl a lot. A friend made a very high-end tansu style round table veneered in lacewood that was truly incredible.

    Hi, Mike:
I like both bowls, but I really like the double dovetail concept on the lacewood one. A very interesting variation!

    Take care

    Mike,
My last box I learned from Bob as well. The "Bowl from a board" is one I wanted to try the double dovetails on. There has to be a way to change the shape but I haven't given it enough thought to figure that out yet.

    Nice Job on both.

Thanks Creekers. I'm trying. It's hard when there is not enough time in the day to do all the things one most do, before even getting in front of the lathe. But I am very determined to become a serious turner.

mike, nice bowls, both. i especially like the grain on the bowl in the bottom pic, with the 'dovetail' looking detail. how did you do that, if you don't mind sharing your secret? mike

Mike here is a link to Bob Hamilton's website. He deserves the credit. While you are there check out the rest of his articles (projects). They are very informative, not to mention inspiring.

I love the lacewood bowl, Mike. Don't like the shape too much either, but I love the concept. They both look really nice.

    Looks great Mike!

I love the lacewood look and the attention to detail is apparent.
