    myrtle bowl

Here is a mytle bowl i turned. It is 7 1/4" wide by 3 1/2" tall. walls are 3/16". I bought a new chuck and jaw set from woodcraft so i can finish the bottom better. Now i need to get a bigger set of jaws so i can do the bigger bowl bottoms also. Thanks for looking.

    Picture quality stinks. Sorry

I like it. Appears to be a stable bowl to me. I don't care for bowls that tip easy. I have never used myrtle for anything and this one looks like it has some good coloring.

    Nice bowl...

Please send Myrtlewood, and Mo's chowder. I MISS OREGON!

Oh yeah, a breeze coming off the coast that isn't a hurricane would be good too...

Lynn, the wood is from camp. There is still a bunch for the taking. i have more wood than i can find time to turn. Getting ready for the youngest daughters wedding in July.

David. I haven't had mo's chowder in about 10 yrs. I dont like the ocean so the breeze stinks. Love the coast though. PM me your address and i will try to send some myrtlewood.

My wife and I were in Coos Bay earlier this week, and stopped at Mo's in Newport as we drove up to Astoria. She (her heirs, anyway) have also opened restaurants in Cannon Beach and in Florence, I believe.
There are certainly a lot of wood turnings in the shops along the coast, but I saw no evidence the state is running short of trees.
The chowder in many restaurants in the Baltimore area is better, in my opinion.

With any luck, LOML and I are going to be in Salem for Christmas. I can bring some Mesquite blanks with me...

    Hey Dave,
If you were to bring Mesquite blanks with you when you come to Oregon would you be thinking of trading for other species or selling them?
I have seen some of the mesquite pieces here and they turn out beautifully.
