    Coolest mortising machine ever!

    I just saw this video on youtube:

    It's basically a powered mortise chisel that oscillates up and down as well as side to side. There's another version of it at:

    That's too easy. Mortises are supposed to be tough, difficult, real work.

    Anyone on SMC have one of these units?

    Check out the solid wood business card holders that this guy makes too, at $30/each.

    It is, or is very similar to, a mortiser from Maka that's been around for years; way cool machine.

    Check out this 3-way joint from his website...the top piece is mechanically locked once assembled and the two side pieces are identical but one is flipped upside down.

    It would take me two weeks to figure out what joinery was required, another two weeks to figure out how to cut it, and 50 bf of lumber to get one cut correctly!

    Unless you were Roy Underhill then you could do it with antique hand tools in 5 min. and only nick your thumb once.
