My neighbor gifed me with all the large trunk wood from a Hickory he lost in October. This was the thank you I gave to them. The blank was the bark side cut-off similar to what one would find at the sawmill pile under "slab wood". This stuff makes for a very broad an shallow NE form which I seem to prefer over the deeper form. 13X4 and finished with gloss poly. This was throwing water the entire time I was turning so to help keep the form usable I carved 3 small feet into the bottom. This way the bowl should sit level as the form changes. They were delighted with the bowl and I was delighted with the wood....Bill..
