Grinding Jigs for a 10" Grinder?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good grinding jig for chisels and plane blades for a 10" grinder? I am particularly interested in the Lee Valley offerings, but am not sure they will fit. (http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.a...=1,43072,45938)

Here is a picture of my grinder with a 6" sitting on top of it, so you can see why I pose the question...



I got the grinder for $50 (sells new for $850), so I can't complain. Here is a better picture of the stock "tables"do you think they would be good enough? I have no experience hollow grinding...

You can probably get the Wolverine jig to work. It works with 8" as well as 6", so you'd probably just have to raise it higher to work with a 10".

That said, you can probably get most jigs to work with your grinder just by raising the height. Try calling LV and asking them. Someone may have already done what you're contemplating. If the 10" wheel is 1" wide it should work. If not, you could widen it if necessary. Your cast tables look fine for sharpening as well. Like Gary said, the Wolverine should work. The flat platform does not have a notch cut into it but that doesn't really matter. And the arms that go into the bases are adjustable-up and down and in and out. I beleive that they can make special peices for a 10" grinder. Worth a call anyways ......

The stock "tables" should be plenty rigid-they are on my 8" Baldor. They just aren't easily adjusted.

You may have some difficulty with the LV rest on that grinder as the wheels wear. I have one mounted on mine, and as the wheel is being reduced in diameter, I fear that the rest is running out of "reach". I honestly don't remember how much wheel I have left on it. I can check later, if you like.

That's a lotta' damn grinder for $50.

I don't think the LV ones will work then, because I might end up using 8" discs on this instead of 10" because they are easier to find.

Yeah, it was listed on the Bay, but didn't give mention of the size, I sure was surprised when I picked it up!

I just looked at mine, and the wheel is down to about 5", and that just about has it maxed out. I could gain a little by elevating the entire rest. The other thing I noticed was the width of the wheel housing. The "arms" of the rest are spaced just wide enough to straddle the housing on mine, but if the housing is any wider on the 10" grinder, it just won't go.

You got a tank of a grinder there, wassit weigh? 120?
