    Walnut bowl - indexing

    Someone asked about lathe indexing recently on SMC. Attached are some photos of a walnut bowl I turned on the lathe and then cut this design in with the router while still on the lathe.

    Another vote for a picture

    I'm having trouble imagining what the router setup looks like too. I'd love to see a picture.

    Talking Patent pending photos... LOL

    My Craftsman lathe happens to have a "captive" box on the top of the headstock, I set a block in there and one in the ways. The top just has a slot in it to slide the router w/guide. Bowl needs to have relatively straight sides. Photos probably explain the process better than I just did.

    Simplicity - ya' gotta love it! Randy, that looks darn near fool proof. Let me know when that patent comes through!

    That's a cool looking bowl... The little 'windows' are an interesting detail. Beautiful color in that piece of walnut.
