Fastest gantry I've ever seen
With Scott's recent post about the >5kW systems he gets to work with, I decided to look around and see what's available. I found this one by Prima Syncrono, called the "Virtuoso":

It's a gantry system overall, but the carriage also has a cantilever system... by combining the two, the system has one major advantage of a galvo system (extreme speeds) without the major disadvantage (small work area). The immediate work area is roughly 4"x4", but it's on a big-bed gantry so you can work with 4'x8'+ sheets. According to the comments, cost is in the $800k range.
