Thread: Wedding Chest

    Wedding Chest

This wedding chest is made of quilted maple veneered panels and bloodwood framing. The veneer is from veneersupplies.com and the bloodwood is from the local Woodcraft store. The veneer panels are backed with lesser quality quilted maple, all dyed with Honeytone Amber dye from Lee Valley. The overall dimensions are 36” L x 19” W x 19” H. The chest has a toe-kick pedestal to make it more “friendly” as a coffee table. The finish is General Finishes Arm-R-Seal. The design is simple to "let the wood do the talking." Please feel free to comment, good and bad.

I really like the colors. You did a great job with those veneers too.

The screw holes (or plugs?) on the top panel miters could have been avoided by using biscuits or a spline.

    Hi Frank,

Thanks for your comment. I should have mentioned that the front, sides and back are attached to each other with splined miter joints. They really help in keeping pieces aligned during the glue-up-and-clamp process.
