How to replace belt on Delta 34-335 (universal motor under table type saw)

I have a Rockwell/Delta 34-340 that I'd like to sell and am just giving it a final cleaning/alignment before listing it. Until taking it apart, I've always thought it was a 34-335, hence the title. I actually can't find any references to a 34-340. Whenever I've used schematics, I've always used the 34-335 and 34-300 drawings, as they look identical to my saw.

Based on the belt I want to replace, anyone with a 34-300, 34-336, 34-653, 34-654, and 34-657 should have the same setup.

    For reference, the 34-335: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/delta-34335-type-1034-table-saw-parts-c-3275_3334_13696.html

I'm trying to replace the belt (just a very short timing-type belt), but just am not sure how. My dad and I cleaned this up when I first bought it, and the one thing we never did figure out was how to either 1) get the belt off or 2) get the arbor gear/flange off. Here are some pictures:

    - The back, showing the arbor bearing back (the recessed button to the left of that bolt): http://i.imgur.com/YM4Zc.jpg

I've posted about this before (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthre...air-assistance), but didn't get much help. I thought this time maybe pictures would help. Searching around I've heard people say to "just pull it off and 'slip' the new one on." This thing is tight and I've tried using a screwdriver to leverage it off while slowly rotating things to try and walk if off the motor output spline shaft... I think maybe I could get it, but I really worry about getting it back on!

I've also tried various methods to try and remove the arbor flange (after letting sit with penetrant for quite a while) and have had no luck.

Any suggestions? They still sell these belts (http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dri...-p-161791.html), so someone's replacing them.

  2. I know I am a year late, but for any one else that has this problem hope this helps. I have two of these saws and the first one I broke the arbor pully getting it off, snapped off some of the flange that the belt rides on, believe it or not I JB welded it back on along with a washer I made out of an old blade, it has been working fine ever since. The other saw which I purchased on CL for $40 as a parts saw was actually in better shape so I didn't wont to sacrifice parts, instead I bolted them together and use one with a dato blade and as the extension table. Back to the arbor pulley, it is just a pressure fit and will come off with some coaxing, I put a wheel bull behind the entire pulley (first time only on the flange and broke it). I used an old wheel pull and ground the arms down so they will fit behind the pulley. If you can cut belt off that makes it easier the first time, the belt P/N is 49-081 they are about $40. After the first time the pulley comes off pretty easy. I have tried to get parts, other than belts nothing is available. But I have replace bearings in motor and brushes (brush Helwig Carbon T-161) bearings are standard size any motor shop will carry. The arbor is odd, but made up of shaft with 2 bearing pressed into an aluminum housing, I have not serviced mine yet, but a guy at delta was familiar with the saw and gave me the low down. I love these saws. Plan on giving one to my kid, the other I just made into the extension wing on my new old Unisaw with a dado blade in it. Good luck
