New Brese Plane

It has been several months since I took delivery of my new Stainless Panel plane from Ron Brese. The first and lasting impression of this plane is how comfortable it is to use. The rear tote is large, but soft in its feel, and your index finger has a nice rounded area to rest. Given its weight and super tight mouth, it works as good as it looks. Ron himself can chime in on any specifics, but I am very happy with its performance, even though I am still developing my blade adjustment skills with my plane adjusting hammer. It was a large purchase, but since Ron has a back order list, I created my own law away program to help spread out the cost. I highly recommend Ron's planes for those who want high performance with work of art appearance (and it helps that he is a great guy).

Well Jim, maybe my Brese plane is compensating for shortcomings in those other areas. I'm 5'8" (average?), and as you can see from the pic, not all that hairy (at least on the top of the head, but I'm way ahead of my mother's father, who was bald by 25). Being a dentist, the teeth are good, and I have plenty of contacts to get them fixed if needed. You were right about the gorgeous wife, and obviously understanding regarding tool purchases.

Gary, how could you purchase a plane that did not require a screwdriver! At the least, I trust you made the plane hammer? Enjoy.

At Ron's request, Elkhead made a special edition driver that fits the 1/4 inch pivot pin. The hammer I'm currently using comes from the nice folks in Maine, maybe I should think about my own (so many projects).
