    A bit more help

Is there a way to get BobCAD to recognise a Sketchup file? Do I need to save it in a special file extention?

You could try a sketchup to DXF converter maybe. I don't use bobcad so I am not much help beyond a guess that bobcad can use dxf's.
Glad its my shop I am responsible for - I only have to make me happy.

You need to export as a DXF or DWG so that BobCAD can import it. Based on this URL, looks like only the pro version of sketchup will export to DXF or DWG.

It looks like the regular Sketchup only exports a bitmap image which isn't even a structured drawing format, so really no chance that is going to work.

I have tried importing DXF files (and others). They show up in the header but nothing in the field. Ill hit it again Monday with the help of a friend maybe we can sort something out together. There is also BobCAD support. I know enough now that I might even be able to ask a question or two.

I typically export DXFs from CorelDraw X5 into BobCad V24 or V25 and have never really had problems. I'm not sure of robustness of the import on earlier versions or the capability of your DXF export program. Also, I see you have Corel X4 - I know X5 is really good about going between formats. I've only imported 2D files, so not sure if you are trying to do 3D. Depending on the accuracy you need, you can use Corel Draw to do a logo mode line drawing on the bitmap - not sure this capability is in X4 version. If you post your DXF file, I can try to import it and then save it back out as a DXF. I'd save it as BobCad format but if you have an earlier version (or even an earlier build of the same version), it won't read a new version file.

    Thanks Guys
Every thing you’ve offered has helped. We are startingto make some progress. I am getting some understanding of G-code. Our biggest fight though is the old software, win 95 and dos. I am pretty rusty. The goodnews is we got work now as soon as we can get the machine to cut something ourreliably.
