Need Help with Newman Whitney S-248

Brand new to this forum, and I need some adjustment help with a Newman Whitney S-248 planer. My problem is that it seems no matter how careful I am with setting it up with adjustments based on the manual I got from Newman Whitney, I get a jamb if I try to remove anything more than 1/16" in one pass. If I back it off it runs through the machine fine but not if I attempt to plane anything more. I assume it's hitting either the breaker bar, or the pressure bar, but when I back them off it seems to make little difference.

    What am I missing here?

thanks for any help you can offer,

    Jeff

You might want to check with the OWWM.org guys. The S 248 is considered one of if not the finest planer out there. I'm assuming yours is used although the company still makes planers. They will take off more than 1/16. The springs for the sectional infeed are all working and not frozen so they can't lift with the board? Dave
